The Importance of accredited qualifications
Somewhere along the way, “coach” became the most popular job title since “entrepreneur” and “ninja” 🥷
Open LinkedIn for 5 minutes and you’ll find:
- Mindset coaches
- Breathwork coaches
- Quantum abundance coaches
- Coaches for coaching coaches (yes, really)
At this rate, my morning coffee is one certification away from coaching me through my inbox ☕😂
Coaching, when done right, is powerful. It can genuinely transform careers, leadership, and lives. But here’s the thing:
👉 Not all coaching is created equal.
There’s a big difference between:
“I read a book and had a breakthrough”
and
“I’m trained, assessed, and accredited by a globally recognized body.”
That’s why credentials matter.
Organizations like the International Coaching Federation (ICF), EMCC (European Mentoring and Coaching Council), and Association for Coaching (AC) don’t just hand out certificates for showing up. They set standards, ethics, and rigorous training requirements that protect clients and elevate the profession.
Because when you’re trusting someone to challenge your thinking, guide your growth, or shape your leadership…
You probably want more than good vibes and a Canva certificate.
So yes, coaching is everywhere right now.
But quality coaching? That’s still something worth looking for 👀
Before you hire a coach (or become one), it’s worth asking:
✔️ Are they certified by a recognized body?
✔️ Do they follow a code of ethics?
✔️ Are they trained to coach—or just good at giving advice?
In a world full of coaches, discernment is your superpower.
And if your coffee does start coaching you… at least make sure it’s ICF-accredited 😉
